Ellensburg Blue Agate
Ellensburg Blue Agate is one of the rarest stones in the world and the only blue agate considered a "precious gemstone". Ellensburg Blue Agate is considered a precious gem due to it's singular qualities and limited quantities. As the name implies, this valuable gem is found only in the area N.W. of Ellensburg Washington which is located in Kittitas County.

Ellensburg Blue Agate is known for it's light sky blue to "cornflower blue" appearance. Ellensburg Blue Agate has a Moh's hardness of 7.5-8.3 or harder. The specific geologic formation where Ellensburg Blue Agate is found is small and mostly on privately owned land. The "host rock" is known as "Teanaway Basalt". Ellensburg Blue Agate contains 43 trace elements which contribute to it's unique color and hardness. Blue agates are found all over the world but none share the rarity and beauty of the famed "Ellensburg Blues".

Robert uses diamond wheels to cut and polish each Ellensburg Blue Agate for maximum beauty. The polish that Robert uses is a special blend of Tin Oxide and Type A Sapphire powder also known as "Linde A".

Ellensburg Blue Agate looks great set in either silver or gold. Ellensburg Blue Agate is very durable and scratch resistant which makes it a great  "wearable" stone for rings. Pendants, rings, and ear rings are all great settings for Ellensburg Blue Agate. Both men and women look stunning when wearing Ellensburg Blue Agate.
